Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity with over 27 years’ experience working with pupils, families and staff in UK schools. We provide mental health support in schools through a range of universal and targeted services for the whole-school community: pupils, staff and families. We also offer expert training and professional qualifications. Our work has a profound effect on children’s mental health, illustrated by our statistics. With Place2Be’s help, schools become more ‘mentally healthy’ – and society saves money. For every £1 invested, our counselling service in primary schools has the potential to return £8 to society by improving outcomes for each child, according to research from Pro Bono Economics. Our school offer consists of a dedicated Place2Be mental health professional being placed in your school, forming an integral part of your team. This individual works with pupils, families and school staff to help your school community cope with mental health challenges. The services delivered include one-to-one counselling, self-referral drop-in sessions, therapeutic groupwork, and whole-class/school work for pupils. For teachers, we offer consultative support and training; whilst families benefit from Parent Partnership support and mental health awareness sessions. We work in partnership with our schools so, as the needs of your school develop, so too does the service delivered by Place2Be. Our work extends to expert training programmes and consultancy which enable school leaders and staff to develop their knowledge and skills in the area of mental health. School staff can become mental health champions through our funded programme and senior leaders are supported to implement an impactful school strategy by our mental health professionals.
